Appointments & eConsults

Pharmacy First offers diagnosis and management for many conditions and illnesses, please check to see if you can receive help and advice sooner.

Urinary Tract Infection - Water Infections
  • For Female patients, aged between 16 and 64 with 2 of the following symptoms
  • Burning when passing urine
  • Passing more urine at night
  • Cloudy urine
Cystitis & Thrush
  • For Female patients, aged between 16 and 64
  • Cystitis
  • Vaginal discharge
  • Vaginal itch or soreness
Shingles
  • 18 and over, with a rash in tthe last 72 hours
  • Tingling in an area of the skin
  • Red dots developing into blisters
  • Rash on one side
Impetigo - Skin Infection
  • 1 year and older, localised (less than 4 lesions/clusters present)
  • Sore blisters that burst and leave crusty goldern brown itchy patches
Insect Bites
  • 1 year and over
  • Infection that is present or worsening at least 48 hours after the initial bite or sting
  • Bee or wasp stings
  • Bite swelling hot to touch
  • Discharge at the site of the bite
Sore Throats, Coughs and Colds
  • 5 years and over
  • Sore throat
  • Puss/swollen glands
  • Cold sores
  • Coughs
  • Flu like symptoms
Acute Sinusitis
  • 12 years and over
  • Symptom duration of 10 days or more
  • Facial pain/pressure
  • Headache
  • Loss of smell
Ear Ache
  • Younger childern may tug the ear or hold the ear
  • Between 1 and 17 years
Mouth Throat
  • Cold sores
  • Flu like symptoms
  • Hoarseness
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Oral thrush
  • Teething
Skin
  • Acne, spots and pimples
  • Athletes foot
  • Blisters
  • Dermatitis/ Dry skin
  • Hayfever
  • Nappy rash
  • Rashes
  • Warts and verrucae
  • Ringworm
Contraception
  • Initiation of oral contraception
  • Repeat supply of oral contraception
  • Emergency contraception

Many conditions can be managed without seeing or speaking to a clinican at the practice. Please see our Health Information & Support page for more information. 

 

If you still require advice / treatment from the practice please contact us, there are 3 easy ways.

  • eConsult – using the eConsult link below or the NHS App

  • Call us – speak directly with our team

  • Pop in – our friendly receptionists are happy to help

It doesn't matter how you contact us, our clinical team will review every request and prioritise based on clinical need.

The team will advise if you need:

  • Some tests done.

  • A Face to Face Appointment or a Telephone Appointment. This appointment may be with a Doctor, Nurse or another member of our Team.

  • Or you may be directed to another service such as Pharmacy First. Read more information on Pharmacy First. or to Health Information & Support

We also offer some appointments with our Extended Hours Team at the Forton Surgery Hub between:

  • Monday to Friday 6.30pm to 8.00pm
  • Saturdays 9.00am to 5.00pm.

Other appointments that can be booked during the extended hours at Forton Surgery are as follows and our Reception Team will be able to book these for you. 

  • Cervical Smears

  • Blood Tests

  • Dressing Changes

The service has locally-based healthcare professionals, GPs, nurse practitioners, nurses and healthcare assistants. The staff can access your medical records, ensuring a high quality service.

 

 Top tip: Mondays are super busy! If it’s not urgent, reach out later in the week for a faster response.

 

eConsults submitted after 15:00 (3.00pm) may not be reviewed until the next working day.

When submitting an eConsult

  • please give the phone number that you will be available on.

  • Note that the clinician will only be able to try to contact you twice.

  • If you know that there is a time that will not be convenient to receive a call please let us know

A week after an sending your eConsult we ask that you complete a satisfaction survey, we do appreciate all feedback.
